The pro-life movement needs your help
The pro-life movement in Monroe County needs your help. We need more people to lighten the load and spread the message that unborn babies need to be protected. We need more younger people and we need more men involved in this movement. The workload will be much easier if multiple people are doing the work, as everyone gets a smaller task.
I am going to be honest here: The bulk of the pro-life work here is being done by just a few people. The same people organize, plan and promote the Life Chain every October, the Rally for Life every January and the booth at the Monroe County Fair every July. They need help. They need others to step up and do some of the work required to take care of these things. It is relatively easy to show up at a couple events per year for an hour or two, but for the hundreds of people who spend an hour at a couple events there are just a handful who spend many more hours setting it up.
I am not including myself in that group. Many others do far more than I do, and are never recognized for it – nor do they seek any kind of public acknowledgement of their hours and hours of work. But without them, none of these things would ever happen.
And yes, this all takes money too. It costs money to buy materials for the Life Chain, the Rally for Life and the county fair booth. It costs money reserve the booth and the courthouse lawn. It costs money to host the CCFL website. We need donations to help pay for these things and also reimburse the dedicated people who spend their own money to buy things for this group.
I know everyone is busy and it seems like everyone has so much to do. But if you look at your daily and weekly routine, can you really say that you have no time to spare?
Let me be blunt. This is not just a issue to be debated in our state legislature or Congress. Babies are dying, every week, right here in downtown Bloomington. Between 2010 and 2013, over 3000 babies have been killed at Planned Parenthood. Every Thursday on South College Avenue, an average of fifteen babies are butchered and discarded like trash.
This is happening right here in our community. The babies being killed are from our churches, our families and our social circles. It is horrifying to think what is happening just a few blocks from downtown. This year, there has been significantly more traffic into Planned Parenthood the day they perform abortions.
Our volunteers do what they do, at personal cost and subjected to ridicule, because they know that abortion violently destroys a baby made in the image of God. They do this because they are called to defend those who cannot defend themselves, as Jesus did and as He calls us to do. If you know, as we do, that abortion is murder, can you not help us stand against this bloodshed?

Rescue those being led away to death; hold back those staggering toward slaughter. If you say, “But we knew nothing about this,” does not He who weighs the heart perceive it? Does not He who guards your life know it? Will He not repay everyone according to what they have done? — Proverbs 24:11-12
